My hero gallery

I built my first model in 1964 when I was seven. I had always had a love of ships, so as fast as I could raise the  money I would buy Hawk, Lindberg and Auora ship models. I had a "fleet" of twenty ships and then out came the superhero and TV sci fi kits. They were only a $1.50 a kit but that was a lot of money to a one income family. My Mother worked long hours and well model kits were not in the budget. So I would find ways to raise money. Or I would build the ships out of cardboard-I guess my love of scratchbuilding started there.

I have had lots of "heros" throughout my life, Superman-Batman, The Phantom, the Green Hornet, Roy Rogers, and John Wayne. They all inspired me. I became kind of a "geekly dreamer" as I approached middle school.

Custom George Reeves Superman. Sorry Chris Reeves. RIP There will only be one Man of Steel in my book.

Batplane right out of the box.

Original Aurora Superman...Hand painted "S"

Part of the gang.

I have several rare Phantom items which are very old

More Gerry Anderson.

XL5, Stingray and Captain Scarlet were the best in my oppinion.

I love costumes-I still do. As a kid I would wear my Superman suit to school, and open my shirt at the proper moment. Needless to say I ended up in the principles office often.

Original Aurora Batman

Remco B-9, A resin repro with interior light no motor.

A small selection of my costumes

Cowboys-I shoot, I sing, I ride the trail but not on a horse

Part of my cap gun collection.

I buy them up as stores become politically correct, and give them to kids. What a sad commentary on what this country has become.

John Wayne.

The greatest hero any boy or girl could have

I am working on my sculpting skils, I hope to create a Duke from each of his movies.
